Memory.
an interactive poem (remix) with much love to Ms. Lillie. only a few minutes long, music can be turned on/off. enjoy!

this interactive poem was made for Noise Jam #4! i really enjoyed the prompt for this jam. i have my own thoughts on how this piece connects to that theme, but i'll leave it up to the viewer to decide what it means to them. :)
this was a very interesting experience... i tried out a bunch of things i've never done before, including Decker as the game engine, and messing around with the sound using clips from Freesound. it was fun! i hope the finished project is also enjoyable.
the poem used in this little game is "Memory" by Lillie Lilberne, as found in the December 16th, 1854 issue of "Ladies' Enterprise", an old periodical that i found in Chronicling America; read it for yourself here! i used to do a lot of work with old newspaper archives, and this was a very fun and nostalgic return.
the art is from this collection by Luigi Schiavonetti! it was so interesting to see what Decker's natural dithering effect did to the already fuzzy and somewhat difficult to discern engravings.
special thanks to my dear autolysed for checking to make sure everything worked lol

I love the idea of revivifying an obscure poem, and the choice here is really great. In no small part to the name of the author, Lillie Lilberne, which is somehow deeply affecting for inexplicable reasons!
